Bhutan is a unique place in Goldentowns, it is a militarised
democratic country in which everyone has ownership. It belongs to every player.
It is the first and only country of its kind. Our principles are better shown
in the country's Manifesto.
Project „Freedom Island” started as a dream of a few strong goldentowns players who wanted to make a change in the game. Many of us resented the current system of voting laws in countries but we also didn’t want to join an island where we don’t have any rights and work just to fill someone’s pockets.
Buying an island seemed the best solution to the limitations of the game. An island that can make a difference in the game. An announcement was made on the game forum regarding our project.
After a few agonising days since the announcement Bhutan was bought with enthusiasm by the founding players. It was the best place we could find, a landlocked country surrounded by only 2 neighbors with sea access.
Due to a dissagreement with a high ranked player we were attacked from day 1. We were never conquered and we will never be conquered without a hell of a fight.
Alot has happened since then, a few players left us, many have joined us. We have built a strong community .We have unprecended colaboration between players, never seen before in Goldentowns.
There are specialists in different fields of the game: share trading, gold mining, etc. We have a private forum just for our members where we share strategies between us, we help eachother and discuss laws.
Bhutan was a direct democracy for a short period, but it didn't work right, so the system changed to elected council of representatives chosen by the players of Bhutan. Council members decide about Island/ taxes/ structures/ benefits/ wars/ strategies etc., always with the consultation of the people of Bhutan.
Our president is not an overlord, he's a coordinator, one of the members of the council. Lenesis, the current president, is very dedicated and involved in running the country.
Admission conditions are revealed in the Admission section of the site.
If you leave the country for another island you will loose the right to receive bonuses, new member fee return, gold tax return, country bonds dividents, participate in the country's decision process and your forum access will be limited. Quick trips back to the home country should be done with responsability , coming back to Bhutan only to get bonuses and state treasure distribution will lead to exclusion.
